1Who we are
This policy explains what information the virtual reality game Thousands at War (“the game”) uses, where it goes, and what you can do about it. The game is made by Sky Yurt Games (“we”, “us”). It is published on the Meta Horizon Store for Meta Quest headsets.
If the game is released on another store later (for example Steam or Pico), we will update this policy before that release to describe the store’s services.
2The short version
- We run no servers for the game and receive no personal data from it. The game has no account system, no online multiplayer, no advertising and no analytics.
- Your progress and settings are saved only on your headset.
- Meta handles three things for us: checking that you own the game, selling war pack add-ons, and recording your achievements. Meta does this under its own privacy policy.
- We never see your payment details. Purchases are made in Meta’s checkout.
- The game does not use your microphone, cameras, passthrough, eye tracking, face tracking or location.
- If you email us or contact us on our community channels, we receive only what you send us.
3What the game saves on your headset
The game keeps the following in its own app storage on your headset. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.
| What | Examples |
|---|---|
| Career progress | Experience points, rank, campaign chapters and medals |
| Battle setup | The armies, unit counts, battlefield and weapons you last chose |
| Lifetime statistics | Kills, battles fought, victories (used to track achievement progress) |
| Settings | Comfort, audio and gameplay options, dominant hand, the height you entered |
| Store cache | A signed list of the war packs you own, so the game works offline |
| Music history | The names of the last few music tracks played, so they are not repeated |
How to delete it:
- Settings > Delete save file deletes your career, campaign progress and battle setup. It keeps your settings, lifetime statistics, achievements and purchases, because Meta also holds the achievements and purchases.
- Uninstalling the game deletes everything the game saved on the headset.
If you use Meta’s cloud backup, Meta may keep a copy of this app data. That is controlled in your Meta account settings, not by us.
4What Meta processes
The game uses the Meta Platform SDK for three features. When it does, the request goes from your headset to Meta, tied to your Meta account. Meta processes this data as an independent controller under the Meta Privacy Policy and the Supplemental Meta Platforms Technologies Privacy Policy.
| Feature | What happens | What we receive |
|---|---|---|
| Ownership check | At start-up the game asks Meta whether your account owns the game. Meta requires this check of every app in its store. | Only a yes or no answer, inside the game on your headset. |
| War pack purchases | Prices are shown from Meta’s store. Purchases happen in Meta’s checkout, and the game reads back the list of add-ons your account owns. | The list of add-on product codes you own, on your headset. Through Meta’s developer dashboard we can see sales reports, as Meta provides them to all developers. We never see your card or payment details. |
| Achievements | When you unlock an achievement or make progress towards one, the game reports it to Meta. | Nothing beyond what Meta shows developers in its dashboard. Your achievements may be visible on your Meta profile, depending on your Meta privacy settings. |
The game does not request your Meta username, profile, friends list or any other account information.
Meta also collects device and usage information about your headset as part of running the Meta Horizon platform. That collection is Meta’s, not ours, and you can manage it in your Meta account and headset settings.
5What we do not collect
The game does not:
- create an account or ask for your name, email or age;
- send gameplay analytics, telemetry or crash reports to us or to anyone else. Unity Analytics, Unity Cloud Diagnostics and Unity crash reporting are switched off in the game;
- show advertising or contain advertising or tracking software;
- access your microphone, the headset cameras or passthrough video, eye tracking, face tracking or your location;
- use cookies (the game has no web pages);
- sell, rent or share your personal information with anyone.
The game is built with the Unity engine. With these services switched off, the game itself sends nothing to Unity.
6Head and controller tracking
Like every VR game, Thousands at War reads where your headset and controllers are, and which buttons you press, many times a second. It uses this only to move your body, hands and weapons in the game. It is not recorded or saved, and it never leaves your headset.
The only measurement saved is the player height you choose with “Measure me” in the settings, and it stays on the headset (section 3).
7When you contact us
If you email us, or message us on Discord, Reddit or another social channel, we receive your message and whatever contact details come with it. We use them only to answer you and fix problems you report. We keep support emails for up to 24 months and then delete them, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Messages on social platforms are also governed by that platform’s own privacy policy.
8Children
Thousands at War contains realistic combat and blood and is not directed at children. Meta’s terms set the minimum age for using a Meta Quest account. Because the game collects no personal information, we do not knowingly receive any from a child. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU and UK GDPR or California’s CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or move personal information about you, and to object to how it is used. In practice:
- Game data is on your headset and under your control. Delete it as described in section 3.
- Purchases, achievements and your Meta account are held by Meta. Use Meta’s privacy tools in your account settings to access or delete them.
- Support messages you sent us: email us and we will give you a copy or delete them within 30 days.
If we hold personal information about you, the legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering your request (support messages). You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
10Security
The list of war packs you own is stored on your headset with a signature, so it cannot be edited to unlock content. Support emails are kept in an access-controlled mailbox. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
11Changes to this policy
We will post any change on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If a change means the game starts collecting new kinds of information, we will say so in the game’s release notes before that version ships.
